Aubagio (teriflunomide) is a medication that is used to reduce flare-ups in people with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) that may cause further physical disability. It affects the immune system by preventing the immune cells from quickly multiplying which reduces swelling and inflammation in the nervous system. Aubagio involves a reduction in the number of activated lymphocytes (T- and B-cells) in the central nervous system that may cause MS flare-ups. Aubagio is not a cure for MS. Take this medication as directed. Do not use Aubagio if you are pregnant or may become pregnant. You’re your doctor immediately if you show signs of liver problems, including upper stomach pain, loss of appetite, dark urine, or jaundice (yellowing of the skin). If you experience any signs of an allergic reaction, seek immediate medical attention. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist about any other possible side effects.
