Geodon (Generic name: Ziprasidone Hydrochloride) is an approved antipsychotic medication for the treatment for symptoms of schizophrenia (mental/mood disorders) and manic or mixed episodes of bipolar disorder (manic depression) in adults and children who are at least 10 years old. Ziprasidone HCl is atypical antipsychotic; it works by helping to restore the balance of certain natural substances (neurotransmitters) in the brain. Geodon tablets should be taken with food twice a day, exactly as doctor prescribed.
The most common Geodon side effects are constipation, diarrhea, dizziness, insomnia, nausea, runny nose, stomach upset, tiredness, and vomiting. If you are experiencing any severe side effects such as chest pain, confusion, fainting, fever, fast heartbeat, mood changes, muscle pain, numbness, vision problems, and serious allergic reaction (e.g., difficult breathing; itching; rash; swelling), please inform your doctor immediately.
