Merional (Menotropins) is used to treat certain fertility problems in woman. This medication works by providing follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH) that help the ovaries to make eggs. Merional is used in combination with another hormone (human chorionic gonadotropin -hCG) to help woman become pregnant by bringing about the growth and release of an egg. Merional is used in women who are not ovulating. It helps women become pregnant by stimulating the ovarian follicles to release an egg. This medication is not recommended for women whose ovaries no longer make eggs properly (primary ovarian failure). Do not take this medication if you are allergic.
