Trileptal (Generic name: Oxcarbazepine) is an anti-seizure drug used to treat seizure disorders. Trileptal may be used alone or with other medications to treat partial seizures in adults and children over six years of age. Oxcarbazepine is an anticonvulsant that works by decreasing nerve impulses that cause seizures. Trileptal is also prescribed off-label to treat bipolar disorder. The most common Trileptal side effects include acne, constipation, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, fatigue, headache, insomnia, nausea, and etc. If you are experiencing any severe side effects such as chest pain, easy bruising or bleeding, fever, jaundice, mental/mood changes, unusual weakness, vision problems, and serious allergic reaction (difficult breathing; hives; itching; rash; swelling), please inform your doctor immediately.
