Anusol Information
Anusol (Zinc Sulfate Monohydrate) is used to relieve symptoms of piles around the anus. Piles may be internal or external, and they present with symptoms such as swelling, itching, and irritation. Anusol may also be used with other drugs to treat ulcerative colitis. Astringents like Zinc Sulfate Monohydrate work by reducing the swelling in the hemorrhoid tissue to shrink piles and relieve itching and pain.
Anusol Side Effects
The most common side effects of Anusol may include dryness and mild irritation. Call your doctor right away if you have any of the serious side effects, such as:
• Severe headache;
• Severe rectal pain;
• Signs of an allergic reaction, such as rash, breathing difficulties, itching or swelling of the face, tongue, or throat;
• Signs of infection, such as feeling tired, body aches, pain, and chills
Anusol Precautions
Do not use Anusol if you are allergic to Zinc Sulfate Monohydrate or other ingredients in this medication. Before you start using this medication, tell your doctor about your medical history, including if you have diabetes, rectal bleeding, skin infection, think you may be pregnant, or plan to become pregnant, are breastfeeding, or are planning to breastfeed. Tell your doctor about all your medications, including prescription, OTC, herbal supplements, and vitamins. There may be a drug interaction between Anusol and other medications, such as metformin, tolazamide, Semaglutide, insulin, etc. Do not use Anusol if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant without informing your doctor. It is not known whether Zinc Sulfate Monohydrate will harm an unborn baby. Discuss the benefits and risks of using this drug in pregnancy with your doctor. Do not use Anusol while breastfeeding without talking to your doctor. Zinc Sulfate Monohydrate passes into breast milk and may harm a nursing infant. Do not give this drug to children below 18 years without talking to your doctor.
Use your medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Anusol comes in ointment and suppository form. If you are using the ointment, use the applicator that comes with it. Wash and dry the affected area before application. Use the applicator to apply your recommended dose of ointment into the anus. Use your finger to apply a small amount of the ointment on the surface of the anus. Use the ointment in the morning, bedtime, and after each bowel movement. Avoid getting Anusol into your eyes, nose, or mouth. If the drug gets into these areas, rinse with plenty of clean water immediately. Anusol suppository is for internal piles. Wash and dry the affected anal area before using the suppository. Try to empty your bowel and bladder before using the medicine. Remove the wrapper before inserting the suppository. Use only clean, dry hands to apply the suppository. Insert the suppository into your anus. Wash your hands immediately after using the drug. Store Anusol at room temperature, away from moisture and heat. Keep all medicines away from children.
