Besivance Information
Besivance (Besifloxacin) is used to treat bacterial eye infections. Fluoroquinolones like Besifloxacin work by killing the bacteria that cause the infection.

Besivance Precautions
Do not use Besivance if you are allergic to Besifloxacin or other ingredients in this medication. Before you start using this medication, tell your doctor about your medical history, including if you have allergies, think you may be pregnant, or plan to become pregnant, are breastfeeding, or are planning to breastfeed. Tell your doctor about all your medications, including prescription, OTC, herbal supplements, and vitamins. There may be a drug interaction between Besivance and other medications. Do not use Besivance if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant without informing your doctor. It is not known whether Besifloxacin will harm an unborn baby. Discuss the benefits and risks of using this drug in pregnancy with your doctor. Do not use Besivance while breastfeeding without talking to your doctor. It is unknown if Besifloxacin passes into breast milk or if it may harm a nursing infant. Do not give this drug to children without talking to your doctor.
Use your medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Besivance comes as eye drops. Use this medicine in the affected eye, usually three times daily, with at least 4 to 12 hours between each dose. Wash your hands first before applying the medicine. Please do not touch the dropper tip or let it touch your eye or any other surface to prevent contamination. Do not rinse the dropper. Replace the dropper cap after each use. If you use contact lenses, remove them before applying Besivance. Sterilize the lenses first before you start using them again. Before use, hold the closed dropper bottle upside down and shake once to mix. Tilt your head back, look upward, and pull down the lower eyelid of the affected eye to make a pouch. Hold the dropper directly over your eye and place one drop into the pouch. Look downward and gently close your eyes for 1 to 2 minutes. Place a finger at the corner of your eye (near the nose) and apply gentle pressure. This will prevent the medication from draining out. Try not to blink, and do not rub your eye. If you use another kind of eye medication (such as drops or ointments), wait at least 5 minutes before applying other medications. Use eye drops before ointments to allow the drops to enter the eye. Besivance may cause blurry vision. Wait several minutes for your vision to clear before driving or operating machinery. Use this medication regularly to get the most benefit from it. To help you remember, use it at the same time each day. Continue to use this medication for the full time prescribed, even if symptoms disappear after a few days. Stopping the medication too early may result in a return of the infection. Store Besivance at room temperature, away from moisture and heat. Keep all medicines out of reach of children.
