Ceclor Information
Ceclor (Cefaclor) is used to treat various bacterial infections such as the middle ear, throat, skin, urinary tract, and respiratory tract system, including pneumonia or lung infections. The active ingredient in Ceclor is Cefaclor. Cephalosporin, 2nd generation such as Cefaclor, works by stopping the growth of bacteria. This antibiotic only treats bacterial infections. It would be best to know that antibiotics such as Ceclor do not treat viral infections (including common cold flu). Do not use antibiotics without a valid prescription from your doctor. Unnecessary use or overuse of any antibiotic can lead to its decreased effectiveness.
Ceclor Side Effects
The most common side effects of Ceclor may include stomach pain, headache, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea. Call your doctor right away if you have any of the serious side effects, such as:
• Mental or mood changes;
• New onset diarrhea;
• Severe abdominal pain;
• Vomiting that doesn’t stop;
• Worsening of your symptoms
Ceclor Precautions
Before taking Cefaclor, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it, penicillin or other cephalosporins, or if you have any other allergies. Tell your doctor about your medical history, including kidney problems, liver disease, chest infection, or intestinal disease (colitis). Discuss all your medications with your doctor, including prescription, OTC, herbal supplements, and vitamins. There may be a drug interaction between Ceclor and other medications, such as steroids and other similar antibiotics. Ceclor is a tablet, and it should be taken orally with a cup of water and with or without food as directed by your doctor. Swallow the long-acting tablets whole; do not split, chew, or crush them. It is usually to take this medication every 8 or 12 hours (2 to 3 times daily), depending on the nature of your condition. Do not stop taking antibiotics without completing your treatment dosage. Do not give too much fluid to avoid overfeeding and restlessness. You should continue to take this medication until the full prescribed amount is finished, even if symptoms disappear after a few days. Stopping the medication too early may result in a return of the infection. Inform your doctor if your condition lasts or gets worse.
