Combantrin Information
Combantrin (Pyrantel Pamoate) is an over the counter anthelmintics, or anti-worm, medication. It prevents worms from growing or multiplying in your body. Pyrantel is used to treat infections caused by pinworms, roundworm, and hookworm. It works by making the worms unable to move (paralyzed) so that the body can remove them naturally in the stool. This medication may be used to self-treat pinworm infections. For worm infections such as roundworm, hookworms, use this product only as directed by your doctor. Do not use this medication in children younger than 2 years unless directed by the doctor.
Combantrin Side Effects
The most common side effects of Combantrin may include stomach pain, nausea, vomiting; diarrhea; drowsiness, dizziness; trouble sleeping; headache. Call your doctor right away if you have any of the serious side effects such as:
• Ongoing headache;
• Severe stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea;
• Severe dizziness.
Combantrin Precautions
Do not use Combantrin if you are allergic to Pyrantel Pamoate or to any other ingredients in this medication or if you have liver disease. Before you start taking this medication, tell your doctor about your medical history, especially of liver disease; severe lack of nutrition (malnutrition); anemia; are pregnant or breast feeding. Tell your doctor about all the medications you take including prescription, OTC, herbal supplements and vitamins. There may be a drug interaction between Combantrin and other medications.
