Combivir Information:

Combivir (Zidovudine/Lamivudine) is used to help control HIV infection. This medication consists of two drugs: Lamivudine and Zidovudine, both belong to a class of medications called nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors. Combivir is used with other HIV medications to help control HIV infection. This medication decreases the amount of HIV in your body so your immune system can work better which lowers the chances of getting HIV complications such as new infections and cancer. This also can improve the quality of your life. Combivir works by interfering with the reverse transcriptase (RT), which is used by HIV-infected cells to make new viruses. Do not take this medication if you are allergic. Talk to your medical professional if you have a history of kidney problems, liver problems (such as hepatitis B or C, cirrhosis), disease of the pancreas (pancreatitis), alcohol use, or low red/white blood cell counts. Take this medication as directed by your doctor. Consult your doctor for any possible side effects and precautions. If you experience any serious side effects, contact your doctor promptly.
