Culturelle Information

Culturelle (Lactobacillus Rhamnosus GG) is used to prevent the growth of harmful gut bacteria. The gut needs friendly bacteria, but an overgrowth can lead to health issues. This drug is also used to treat and prevent rotavirus-induced bacteria in babies and children. Culturelle is also used to treat colic in babies and to prevent diarrhea caused by antibiotics. You can use Culturelle to prevent diarrhea when traveling to foreign countries or during a hospital stay. Probiotic supplements like Lactobacillus Rhamnosus GG restore the natural balance of bacteria in the gut.

Culturelle Side Effects

Culturelle Precautions

There may be a drug interaction between Culturelle and other medications, like clotrimazole; nystatin; prednisolone; Do not take this drug within 2 hours before or after taking other medicines, especially antibiotics. Do not use Culturelle if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant without informing your doctor. This medication should not harm your unborn baby. Do not use Culturelle while breastfeeding without talking to your doctor. It is not known if Lactobacillus Rhamnosus GG passes into your breastmilk or if it may harm nursing infants. It is not known if this drug is safe for use in children below one year of age. Use your medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Take this drug by mouth. You can take Culturelle capsules with or without food. If you have difficulty swallowing, you can open the capsule and sprinkle its contents on a spoonful of baby food or applesauce. Swallow immediately. You can mix Culturelle Kids Powder in yogurt or applesauce to make swallowing easier. Your dosage and treatment will depend on what you are treating. Store this medication at room temperature and keep it out of the reach of children.
