Dexilant Information:
Dexilant Delayed Release (Generic name: Dexlansoprazole. Previous sold under the name: Kapidex) is a prescription medication used to treat symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), a condition in which stomach acid back flows in to the esophagus, causing heartburn and possible injury to the esophagus. Dexilant is also used for the treatment of erosive esophagitis (EE), a condition in which inflammation, irritation, or swelling of the esophagus occurs. Dexilant is in a class of medications called proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) and it is a delayed-release (long-acting) capsule. It works by decreasing the amount of acid produced in the stomach. Take Dexilant exactly as it was prescribed for you.
Dexilant Side Effects:
The most common Dexilant side effects are diarrhea, gas, headache, nausea, stomach pain, vomiting, and etc. If you are experiencing any severe side effects such as bleeding, chest pain, or a sign of serious allergic reaction (e.g., difficult breathing; hives; rash; swelling), please inform your doctor immediately.
Dexilant Precautions:
Do NOT take Dexilant oral if you are allergic to Dexlansoprazole or any ingredient in Dexilant delayed release capsules. Before taking Dexilant, tell your doctor if you have had medical conditions, especially of: heart problem, stomach problem, or severe liver disease. Tell your doctor about all the prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) medications you use. They may interact with Dexilant drug, especially of: ampicillin, atazanavir, iron salts, and ketoconazole.
