Diclegis (Doxylamine Succinate/Pyridoxine Hydrochloride) is used to treat nausea and vomiting that occurs during pregnancy. Decreasing nausea and vomiting may improve your health and nutrition during pregnancy. Antihistamines like Doxylamine Succinate reduce the effects of the natural chemical histamine in the body. Vitamins like Pyridoxine treat vitamin B6 deficiency and treat nausea.
Diclegis Side Effects
The most common side effects of Diclegis may include drowsiness, dizziness, blurred vision, headache, and sleeping difficulties. Contact your doctor right away if you have any of the serious side effects, such as:
• Seizures;
• Signs of an allergic reaction, such as rash, breathing difficulties, itching or swelling of the face, tongue, or throat
Diclegis Precautions
Do not use Diclegis if you are allergic to Doxylamine Succinate, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, or other ingredients in this medication. Before you start using this medication, tell your doctor about your medical history, including if you have asthma, glaucoma, intestinal blockage, stomach ulcer, bladder obstruction, think you may be pregnant, or plan to become pregnant, are breastfeeding, or are planning to breastfeed. Tell your doctor about all your medications, including prescription, OTC, herbal supplements, and vitamins. There may be a drug interaction between Diclegis and other medications, such as altretamine, codeine, alprazolam, cetirizine, etc. Do not use Diclegis if you have used an MAO inhibitor in the past 14 days.
Do not use Diclegis if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant without informing your doctor. The drug is not expected to harm an unborn baby. Do not use Diclegis while breastfeeding without talking to your doctor. Doxylamine Succinate and Pyridoxine Hydrochloride pass into breast milk and may harm a nursing infant. Do not give this drug to children without talking to your doctor. Use your medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Diclegis comes as a tablet. Do not break or chew the medicine. Take this drug on an empty stomach with a full glass of water. You can take this drug at bedtime. Your dose will depend on the severity of your condition. Diclegis may impair your reactions. Avoid driving or hazardous activity until you know how this medicine will affect you. Do not drink alcohol when using this medicine. Alcohol can increase drowsiness. Store Diclegis at room temperature, away from moisture and heat. Keep all medicines out of reach of children.
