Effexor XR Information

Effexor XR (Generic name: Venlafaxine Hydrochloride) is an antidepressant medication use to treat depression symptoms include changes in appetite, sleep habits, mind/body coordination, decreased sex drive, fatigue, difficult concentrating, slowed thinking and suicidal thoughts. Effexor XR is also prescribed to treat general anxiety disorder (GAD), social anxiety disorder (SAD, social phobia) and panic disorder (panic attack). Venlafaxine Hydrochloride is a serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI) prescribed to treat depression. Effexor XR Side Effects

The most common Effexor XR side effects include dry mouth, blurred vision, drowsiness, dizziness, constipation, nausea, insomnia, joint or muscle pain, weight changes or decreased sex drive. They may interact with Effexor XR drug, especially of: MAO inhibitors (e.g., phenelzine, tranylcypromine), NSAIDs (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs e.g., ibuprofen, naproxen, ketoprofen), SSRIs (e.g., escitalopram, paroxetine, fluvoxamine), triptans (e.g., sumatriptan, rizatriptan) and SNRIs (e.g., duloxetine, venlafaxine) and warfarin. Consult with your doctor if you are pregnant or breast-feeding. Effexor XR is NOT approved for use in pediatric patients.
