Imdur (Generic name: Isosorbide mononitrate, also called Angicor or Duride) is a type of anti-anginal agent called a nitrate. It works by widening blood vessels, making it easier for the heart to pump blood. Imdur is used to prevent, not treat, angina attacks (chest pain). Your doctor may also prescribe Imdur for other conditions.
Imdur side effects include headache, mild dizziness, warmth or tingling under the skin, hot flashes, dry mouth, joint or muscle stiffness, nausea, vomiting, constipation or diarrhea. See your doctor as soon as possible if you experience any of these severe side effects: irregular heartbeat, worsening angina pain, feeling like you might pass out, trouble breathing, blue-coloured skin or tired feelings. These may not be all side effects associated with Imdur. Talk to your doctor about side effects or potential drug interactions before taking Imdur.
Do NOT take Imdur if you are allergic to any of the ingredients in the medication. Talk to your doctor about medication interactions. Imdur can cause adverse reactions in patients who are erectile dysfunction medication, beta blocjkers, blood pressure medications or other medications that may not be listed here. If you miss a dose, take Imdur as soon as you remember. However, if it is close to the time of your next dose, just take the regularly scheduled dose. Do not take 2 doses at once. Talk to your doctor before using Imdur if you have any of these conditions: congestive heart failure, kidney disease or low blood pressure. Imdur should not be used in pregnant or lactating women. Sufficient studies have not been completed. Keep Imdur away from children.
