Monoprost Information

Monoprost (Latanoprost) is used to treat conditions known as open angle glaucoma and ocular hypertension. Monoprost belongs to a class of medications known as prostaglandins. Monoprost is a preservative-free formulation of latanoprost which works by regulating the flow of fluid within the eye which results in lower pressure. Lowering the high pressure inside the eye can help prevent blindness.

Monoprost Side Effects

Do not take this medication if you are allergic to Monoprost. Some signs of side effects caused by monoprost include, rash; hives; itching; red, swollen, blistered, or peeling skin with or without fever; wheezing; tightness in the chest or throat; trouble breathing, swallowing, or talking; unusual hoarseness; or swelling of the mouth, face, lips, tongue, or throat. Change in eyesight, eye pain, or very bad eye irritation. Eye discharge. Eye color may change to a brown color. This change may be long-lasting. Eye color changes may happen a few months to years after starting this medicine (latanoprost eye drops). If eye color changes, call the doctor.

Monoprost Precautions

Talk to your doctor if you have a medical history of swelling in the eye, herpes infection of the eye, other eye problems (macular edema, iritis. Uveitis, lens extraction/ aphakia).
