They do not treat viral infections. Monurol works by stopping the growth of bacteria. Monurol starts working to kill bacteria within hours after taking it. The bladder irritation caused by the bacteria and the symptoms that you may be feeling can last for a short time even after the bacteria have been killed. Fosfomycin should not be used to treat infections outside the bladder (such as kidney infections).
