Natazia Information

Natazia (Estradiol Valerate/Dienogest) is used to prevent pregnancy. The drug also treats heavy menstrual bleeding not caused by uterine problems. Estrogens like estradiol valerate and progestins like Dienogest are female hormones that prevent ovulation (the release of an egg from an ovary). They also cause changes in your cervical mucus and uterine lining, making it harder for sperm to reach the uterus and difficult for a fertilized egg to attach to the uterus.

Natazia Side Effects

The most common side effects of Natazia may include breast pain, breast tenderness, light vaginal bleeding, nausea, and weight gain. Call your doctor right away if you have any of the serious side effects, such as:
• Breast lump;
• Changes in the pattern or severity of migraine headaches;
• Signs of a blood clot, such as chest pain, sudden cough, wheezing, coughing up blood;
• Signs of an allergic reaction, such as rash, breathing difficulties, itching or swelling of the face, tongue, or throat;
• Signs of stroke such as sudden numbness or weakness, slurred speech, vision problems, sudden severe headache;
• Sudden and severe pelvic pain

Natazia Precautions

Do not use Natazia if you are allergic to Estradiol Valerate, Dienogest, or other ingredients in this medication. Before you start using this medication, tell your doctor about your medical history, including if you have uncontrolled high blood pressure, heart disease, blood-clotting disorder, diabetes complications such as vision, kidney, or blood circulation problems, unusual and untreated vaginal bleeding, liver disease, severe migraine headaches, think you may be pregnant, or plan to become pregnant, are breastfeeding, or are planning to breastfeed. Tell your doctor about all your medications, including prescription, OTC, herbal supplements, and vitamins. There may be a drug interaction between Natazia and other medications, such as lamotrigine, metformin, levothyroxine, topiramate, prednisone, and amitriptyline. Some of these drugs may reduce the effectiveness of Natazia, which may result in pregnancy. You may need to use a backup birth control method while using certain other drugs. Do not use Natazia if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant without informing your doctor. This drug prevents pregnancy. If you have just given birth or had a pregnancy loss or an abortion, do not use this drug for the first 3 months without talking to your doctor. Find out when it is safe to start using birth control that contains a form of estrogen. Do not use Natazia while breastfeeding without talking to your doctor. A small amount of this drug passes into breast milk and may harm a nursing infant.

Do not give this drug to children without talking to your doctor. Use your medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Natazia comes as a tablet. Take this drug by mouth once daily. Pick a time of day that is easy to remember, and take your pill simultaneously each day. Follow the arrows shown on each row of pills in the pack. Use backup birth control, such as condoms or a spermicide, for the first 9 days.

Do not take two different kinds of birth control pills at the same time. Pregnancy is more likely if you miss pills, start a new pack late, or take your pill 12 hours later than the usual time. If you miss a period for two months in a row, call your doctor because you might be pregnant. If you need surgery or medical tests or are on bed rest, you may need to stop using this medicine briefly. Natazia will not protect you from sexually transmitted diseases like HIV and AIDS. Using a condom is the only way to protect yourself from these diseases. Store Natazia at room temperature, away from moisture and heat. Keep all medicines out of reach of children.
