Nidagel Information
Metrogel (Metronidazole) is a topical medication used to treat skin lesions caused by rosacea. Metrogel Vaginal (Metronidazole vaginal gel) is a topical medication used to treat vaginal infections. Do not use either medication orally. Metrogel, in both forms, works by attacking the DNA structure of the bacteria, decreasing inflammation. It effectively stops the bacteria from being able to function normally, and inhibits its ability to grow and replicate. Take these medications as directed. Use the appropriate medication for the infection. Do not use it in larger or smaller amounts, or for longer than recommended. To make sure Metrogel is safe for you, tell you doctor if you are allergic to metronidazole or any similar antibiotics. You should not breastfeed while using Metrogel, as the medication may sometimes pass into breastmilk. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant. It is unknown if Metrogel will harm an unborn baby. Tell your doctor about any other medications you are currently using in order to reduce the risk of interactions. You may experience mild stinging or irritation at the application site. If this worsens or persists, contact your doctor. If you experience any serious side effects or signs of an allergic reaction, seek emergency medical attention.
