Nitoman (Generic name: Tetrabenazine, also known as Xenazine, or Revocon-25) is a prescription medication used to treat movement disorder. Typically Nitoman is used for the treatment of hyperkinetic movement disorders such as Huntington’s disease and other conditions with chorea, hemiballismus, and tardive dyskinesia. Nitoman contains active ingredient Tetrabenazine. It is a monoamine depleting agent which works by depleting the brain’s supply of the neurochemical dopamine. Nitoman Side Effects
The most common Nitoman side effects are anxiety, depression, digestive problems, drowsiness, insomnia, low blood pressure, nervousness, slowed movements similar to Parkinson’s disease. If you are experiencing any severe side effects such as confusion, choking attacks, difficult swallowing, irrigational thoughts, muscle stiffness, or symptoms of an allergic reaction (difficult breathing; itching; rash; swelling), please inform your doctor immediately.
Nitoman Precautions
Do NOT ake Nitoman if you are allergic to Tetrabenazine or any of the ingredients in Nitoman medication. Before taking Nitoman, tell your doctor if you have had any medical conditions such as a history of depression, impaired liver function, currently taking MAI inhibitor or reserpine. They may interact with Nitoman drug, especially of: antidepressants, levodopa, MAO inhibitors, and alcohol consumption. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
