Nubeqa Information
Nubeqa (Darolutamide) is used to treat non-metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer or nmCRPC. This is a cancer that has not spread to other parts of your body and no longer responds to a medical or surgical treatment that lowers testosterone. The drug is also used in combination with Docetaxel to treat metastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer or mHSPC. This is a type of prostate cancer that has spread to other parts of the body and responds to medical or surgical treatment that lowers testosterone. The active ingredient in Nubeqa is Darolutamide. Androgen receptor inhibitors like Darolutamide block the effects of a male reproductive hormone known as testosterone to stop the growth and spread of cancer cells.
Nubeqa Side Effects
The most common side effects of Nubeqa may include tiredness, nausea, weakness, and rash. Call your doctor right away if you have any of the serious side effects, such as:
• Bloody urine;
• Painful or difficult urination;
• Severe headache;
• Signs of an allergic reaction, such as rash, breathing difficulties, itching or swelling of the face, tongue, or throat;
• Signs of blood clots in the lungs such as chest pain, sudden cough, rapid breathing
Nubeqa Precautions
Do not use Nubeqa if you are allergic to Darolutamide or other ingredients in this medication. Before you start using this medication, tell your doctor about your medical history, including if you have Liver disease, Kidney disease, Heart problems, Diabetes, High cholesterol, Seizures, think you may be pregnant, or plan to become pregnant, are breastfeeding, or are planning to breastfeed. Tell your doctor about all your medications, including prescription, OTC, herbal supplements, and vitamins. There may be a drug interaction between Nubeqa and other medications, such as rifabutin, phenytoin, St. John’s wort, dexamethasone, rosuvastatin, etc. Do not use Nubeqa if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant without informing your doctor. This drug is not for use in women. Darolutamide may harm an unborn baby or cause a miscarriage. Use effective birth control while using this drug and for at least 1 week after your last dose if your partner can get pregnant. Pregnant women should not handle Nubeqa as this drug can be absorbed through the skin and lungs and harm an unborn baby. Do not use Nubeqa while breastfeeding without talking to your doctor. This drug is not for use in women.
Do not give this drug to children below 18 years old. Use your medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Take this drug twice daily with food. Swallow the tablet whole. Do not crush, chew, or break it. Take this drug regularly to get the most benefit from it. Take it at the same time each day to help you remember. Nubeqa may lower your ability to fight an infection. This may make you more likely to get a serious infection or worsen any current infection. Inform your doctor if you notice symptoms of an infection. Store this medication in a tightly closed container at room temperature, away from moisture and heat. Keep it out of the reach of children.
