Onbrez Breezhaler Information

Onbrez Breezhaler (Indacaterol) keeps the airways open in adults with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). COPD is a group of lung diseases that block airflow, tighten the muscles around the airway, and make breathing difficult. Emphysema and chronic bronchitis are the most common conditions that makeup COPD. Unfortunately, damage to the lungs from COPD can't be reversed. Symptoms of COPD include shortness of breath, wheezing or a chronic cough. Bronchodilators like Indacaterol work by opening up the airways in the lungs, making it easier to breathe. Onbrez Breezhaler is intended for daily, ongoing use to help manage COPD symptoms. It is not a rescue medication for sudden breathing difficulties.

Before you start using this medication, tell your doctor about your medical history, including if you have asthma, acute bronchospasm, epilepsy, thyroid gland problems, intolerance to some sugars, severe heart conditions, diabetes, glaucoma, hypokalemia, think you may be pregnant, or plan to become pregnant, are breastfeeding, or are planning to breastfeed. Tell your doctor about all your medications, including prescription, OTC, herbal supplements, and vitamins. It is unknown if this medicine will harm an unborn baby. Discuss the benefits and risks of using this drug in pregnancy with your doctor. Do not use Onbrez Breezhaler while breastfeeding without talking to your doctor. It is unknown if Indacaterol passes into breast milk or if it may harm a nursing infant. Use your medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Onbrez Breezhaler comes in capsules for inhalation. Do not swallow by mouth. Place a capsule into the inhaler provided with the medicine and breathe the powder in through the mouth. When you start a new pack, use the new Onbrez Breezhaler inhaler that is supplied in the pack. Remove the cap from the inhaler. Open the inhaler by tilting the mouthpiece. Carefully remove a capsule from the blister pack just before use and place it in the capsule chamber of the inhaler. Close the inhaler until you hear a click. Pierce the capsule by pressing the piercing buttons on the sides of the inhaler once and releasing them. Before placing the mouthpiece in your mouth, breathe out fully. Place the mouthpiece between your lips and close your lips tightly around it. Breathe in rapidly and deeply through the inhaler. You should hear a whirring sound as the capsule spins. Hold your breath for as long as comfortable (about 5-10 seconds). Remove the inhaler from your mouth and breathe out gently. After use, open the inhaler and remove the empty capsule. Close the inhaler and replace the cap. Do not exhale into the Breezhaler. Keep using your treatment with Onbrez Breezhaler for as long as your doctor tells you, even if you feel better. COPD is a long-term disease, and you should use Onbrez Breezhaler every day and not only when you have breathing problems or other symptoms of COPD. Use your inhaler at the same time each day; the effects last for 24 hours. This ensures that there is always enough medicine in your body to help you breathe more easily throughout the day and night. It will also help you to remember to use it. Store Onbrez Breezhaler at room temperature, away from moisture and heat. Keep all medicines out of reach of children.
