Orilissa Information
Orilissa (Elagolix Sodium) is used to help women relieve moderate to severe pain due to endometriosis. Endometriosis is a condition where the tissue that usually lines the inside of the womb (uterus) grows in a different place. This tissue may grow outside the surface of the uterus, on the ovaries, or other organs. This condition may cause symptoms such as infertility, painful sex, or painful menstrual periods. Gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) receptor antagonists like Elagolix decrease the body’s production of luteinizing hormone to reduce the amount of female sex hormones in the body. Lower hormone levels may help decrease symptoms of endometriosis.
