Prezcobix Information
Prezcobix (Darunavir Ethanolate/Cobicistat) is used with other Human Immunodeficiency Virus Type 1 (HIV-1) medicines to treat HIV-1 infection in adults and children who weigh at least 88 pounds (40 kg). HIV-1 is the virus that causes Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS). HIV damages the immune system, so the body is less able to fight infection and disease. Prezcobix is a combination medicine containing Darunavir Ethanolate and Cobicistat. Protease inhibitors like Darunavir Ethanolate prevent the replication of HIV by stopping the formation of mature virus particles. Pharmacokinetic boosters like Cobicistat increase the amount of Darunavir in the body to have a more significant effect. Prezcobix is not a cure for HIV or AIDS.
