Qulipta Information

Qulipta (Atogepant) is used to prevent migraine headaches in adults. Migraines are severe, throbbing headaches that are sometimes accompanied by nausea and sensitivity to sound or light. Calcitonin gene-related peptide receptor (CGRP) antagonists like Atogepant work by blocking the action of the CGRP protein in the body.

The most common side effects of Qulipta may include constipation; nausea; drowsiness; weight loss; tiredness; Call your doctor right away if you have any of the serious side effects, such as:

Qulipta Precautions

Do not use Qulipta if you are allergic to Atogepant or other ingredients in this medication. Before you start using this medication, tell your doctor about your medical history, including if you have kidney problems or are on dialysis; have liver problems; think you may be pregnant or plan to become pregnant; are breastfeeding, or are planning to breastfeed. Tell your doctor about all the medications you take, including prescription, OTC, herbal supplements, and vitamins. There may be a drug interaction between Qulipta and other medications, like cyclosporine; itraconazole; efavirenz; phenytoin; clarithromycin; St. John’s wort. Do not use Qulipta if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant without informing your doctor. It is not known if this medication will harm your unborn baby. Do not use Qulipta while breastfeeding without talking to your doctor. It is not known if Atogepant passes into your breastmilk or if it may harm nursing infants. It is not known if this drug is safe for use in children younger than 18 years old. It may harm them. Use your medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Take Qulipta by mouth, with or without food. Use the drug regularly to get the most benefit out of it. Qulipta can make you drowsy. Avoid driving or using machinery until you can do it safely. Avoid drinking alcohol when taking this drug. Alcohol can make you drowsy. Store Qulipta at room temperature, away from moisture and heat.
