Reminyl Information
Reminyl (Galantamine) is used to treat mild to moderate dementia related to Alzheimer’s disease. Acetylcholine is a natural chemical in the brain that helps carry messages between brain cells. It has been found that people with Alzheimer’s disease usually have a decrease in the amount of acetylcholine in their brains, which results in problems with thinking. The active ingredient in Reminyl is Galantamine. Galantamine belongs to a class of medication called acetylcholinesterase inhibitors. It works by increasing the concentration of acetylcholine at neurotransmission sites and modulates activity at nicotinic receptors. People with other types of dementia may also use Reminyl.
