Replavite Information
Replavite (Renal Multivitamins) is an over the counter vitamin supplement used to replace Vitamins B12, C and folic acid that is removed during dialysis. This medication contains the right amount of vitamins B and C, and folic acid required to meet the needs of dialysis patients. Vitamin B helps the bone marrow make red blood cells and prevent anemia. Vitamin C keeps bones, teeth and skin healthy. Vitamin C helps heal wounds and helps your body fight infections. Take this medication as directed by your doctor. If you are on dialysis, take this medication after your treatment is over because Replavite is removed by dialysis.
Replavite Side Effects
Contact your doctor right away if you notice any of the serious side effects such as prolonged nausea or diarrhea that lasts more than three days, and confusion.
The common side effects of Replavite may include:
• An increase in appetite;
• An increase in energy;
• Diarrhea;
• Nausea
Replavite Precautions
Do not take Replavite if you are allergic to any of the ingredients in this medication or if you have any other allergies. Before you start taking this medication, talk to your doctor about your medical history and if you have alcohol abuse problems, liver problems, stomach or intestinal problems. Avoid taking more than once multivitamin product at the same time unless advised by your doctor. Tell your doctor about all the medications you take including prescription, OTC, herbal supplements and vitamins. There may be a drug interaction between Replavite and other medications. Talk to your doctor if you are pregnant or breast-feeding.
