No generic equivalents of Stugeron found.
Stugeron (Cinnarizine) is an antihistamine and calcium channel blocker commonly used to treat nausea and vomiting associated with motion sickness, vertigo, inner ear disorders such as Meniere’s disease or Cogan’s syndrome, and in some cases is used as an anti-nauseant for chemotherapy patients. The active medication in Stugeron, cinnarizine, works by blocking the vomiting center of the hypothalamus from receiving signals from the vestibular apparatus of the inner ear. The vestibular apparatus sends feedback to the brain about the positioning of the body, and can be disrupted by things like being in a moving car or boat. When this happens, the vestibular apparatus sends signals to the brain, which can cause symptoms such as nauseas, vomiting, dizziness, or spinning sensations. Cinnarizine, blocks the receptors in the vomiting center, preventing it from receiving the signals from the vestibular apparatus. This in turn helps reduce the symptoms. Take this medication as directed. Tell your doctor about any medications you are currently using in order to reduce the risk of interactions. Stugeron may cause drowsiness. It is not recommended to drive or do hazardous work until you know how the medication affects you. You should not consume alcohol while taking Stugeron, as it can likely increase drowsiness. Some common side effects of Stugeron include drowsiness, indigestion, nausea, and weight gain with long term use. Stop taking Stugeron and contact your doctor immediately if you experience abnormal movements of the hands, face, legs, neck, tongue, such as twitching, tremors, or rigidity, as ell as if you experience any signs of jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes). Seek emergency medical attention if you experience any serious side effects, signs of an overdose, or signs of an allergic reaction.
