Synvisc Information:

Synvisc (Generic name: Hylan GF20) is an injected treatment used to relieve the symptoms of osteoarthritis in the ankle, hip, knee joint, and shoulder. Synvisc has an injectable substance called Hyaluronan. Synvisc injections are approved for osteoarthritis (OA) pain of the knee in patients who have failed to respond to more conservative therapy or pills. Synvisc is a safe and effective therapy that can provide long lasting pain relief up to 6 to 12 months. Synvisc is administered by a healthcare professional as an intra-articular injection.

Synvisc Side Effects:

The most common Synvisc side effects are dizziness, headache, temporary pain or swelling at the injection site. If you are experiencing any severe side effects such as back pain, fast heartbeat, fever, upset stomach, tingling skin, and symptoms of a serious allergic reaction (e.g., difficult breathing, hives, rash, swelling), please inform your doctor immediately.

Synvisc Precautions:

Do NOT use Synvisc injection if you are allergic to Hyaluronan or any of the ingredients in Synvisc medication. Before using Synvisc 1, tell your doctor if you have any medical conditions such as allergies, circulation problems in the leg, knee joint infections, and skin infections around the injection site. Tell your doctor about all the prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) medications you use. They may interact with Synvisc drug.
