Takecab Information

Takecab (Vonoprazan Fumarate) is a prescription medication used to treat acid-related diseases such as gastric/duodenal ulcers, reflux esophagitis, and for suppression of recurrence of gastric/duodenal ulcer. Takecab has fast acting, strong and sustained acid secretion inhibitory effects. This medication belongs to the class of medication called potassium-competitive acid blockers, which works by competitively inhibiting the binding of potassium ions to the proton pump in the final step of gastric acid secretion in gastric parietal cells.

Takecab Side Effects

Common side effects of Takecab include:
• Changes in taste;
• Constipation;
• Diarrhea;
• Feeling that your stomach is enlarged;
• Nausea;
• Rash;
• Swelling of the mouth and lips

Contact your physician immediately if any of these adverse side effects occur:
• Abdominal pain, blood in the feces;
• Cramps/tenderness;
• Dark colored urine;
• Pain or tenderness in the stomach when palpated, stomach pain;
• Pale skin, yellowing skin or eyes;
• Pus or mucus in stool, watery diarrhea;
• Rashes with skin peeling and blistered lips mouth and eyes all accompanied with fever;
• Swelling in the legs and ankles;
• Tiredness/weakness

Takecab Precautions

Do not take this medication if you are allergic to vonoprazan or any other ingredients in this medication. Inform your doctor of your medical history and if you are taking any other medications alongside Takecab including prescription, OTC, herbal supplements and vitamins. Do not take Takecab with medications for the HIV infection (rilpivrine, atazanavir, nelfinavir). Also, inform your doctor if you are taking any of these medications:
• Cancer medications (getfitinib, nilotinib);
• Digoxin (medication for heart disease);
• Fungal infection medications (itraconazole)

Inform your doctor if you have the following conditions:
• Kidney disease;
• Liver disease;
• Stomach diseases or conditions

While on this medication, avoid alcohol and raw foods along with spicy foods and carbonated drinks. Ensure to eat smaller meals as large meals may increase the pressure in your stomach and will lead to reflux. Avoid lying down after meals as this can also cause reflux. Inform your doctor if you are or become pregnant while on this medication, and do not breast feed for the duration of this prescribed medication.
