Tecta and Equivalent
Tecta (Pantoprazole Magnesium)
Generic Equivalent of Tecta
Tecta Information
Tecta (Pantoprazole Magnesium) is a prescription medication for heartburn, acid reflux, and gastroesophageal reflux disease. Gastroesophageal reflux disease is a gastrointestinal disorder in which there is a continuous regurgitation of stomach acid. The active ingredient in the Tecta tablet is Pantoprazole magnesium. Pantoprazole magnesium belongs to the class of medications called proton pump inhibitors (PPIs). Pantoprazole works by blocking the gastric parietal cell's hydrogen/potassium adenosine triphosphatase (H+/K+ ATPase) enzyme system. As a result, Pantoprazole magnesium reduces the amount of acid the stomach produces by blocking the proton pump that produces acid in the stomach. Effective treatment of reflux disease with Pantoprazole helps heal acid damage to the stomach and esophagus, helps prevent ulcers, and may help prevent esophagus cancer.

Before you start using this medication, tell your doctor about your medical history, including if you have intestinal perforation or obstruction, liver disease, a lack of certain minerals in the body (such as zinc), lupus, think you may be pregnant, or plan to become pregnant, are breastfeeding, or are planning to breastfeed. Tell your doctor about all your medications, including prescription, OTC, herbal supplements, and vitamins. There may be a drug interaction between Tecta and other medications, such as erlotinib, mavacamten, nelfinavir, and rilpivirine. Tecta is a tablet that should be taken orally with a cup of water, usually for two weeks. If your symptoms improve after two weeks of usage, your doctor may prescribe another dose for two weeks. It would be best to follow your doctor's prescription carefully and use it as prescribed. Avoid drinking alcoholic beverages while treating gastroesophageal reflux disease with Pantoprazole. Speak with your doctor immediately if there is no improvement in your condition despite regular use of Tecta for a minimum of four weeks.
