Triumeq Information

Triumeq (Abacavir/Dolutegravir/Lamivudine) is used to control HIV infection and to decrease the viral load in the body of affected person so that the immune system can work better. HIV is the virus that causes acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). HIV infection destroys CD4 (T) cells, which are important to the immune system. CD4 cells are a type of white blood cells that help the body fight infection. It would be best to know that Triumeq does not cure for HIV/AIDS. People with HIV who get effective treatment with Triumeq can live long, healthy lives. Most people experience flu-like symptoms within 2 to 4 weeks of getting infected. Some people have no symptoms at all. The only way to know if you have HIV is to get tested. The active ingredient in Triumeq is Abacavir, Dolutegravir, and Lamivudine. Nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs) like Abacavir and Lamivudine work by blocking reverse transcriptase (an HIV enzyme), preventing HIV from replicating. Integrase inhibitors (INIs) like Dolutegravir work by blocking integrase (an HIV enzyme), preventing HIV from replicating. Triumeq slows the further growth of HIV and seems to slow down the destruction of the immune system. This may help to delay the development of infections related to AIDS or HIV.
