Truvada (Generic name: Emtricitabine/ Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate, also called Tenvir EM) is an anti-HIV medication used for the treatment of HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) infection and AIDS (acquired immunodeficiency syndrome) in adults. Truvada is a once-daily fixed dose combination of two antiretroviral drugs: 200 mg of Emtriva (Emtricitabine) and 300 mg of Viread (Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate). Truvada prevents the HIV cells from producing new virus and decreases the amount of virus in the body. Take Truvada exactly as it was prescribed for you.

Truvada Side Effects
The most common Truvada side effects include diarrhea, dizziness, fatigue, headache, insomnia, loss of appetite, nausea, stomach upset, and vomiting. Truvada Precautions

Tell your doctor about all the prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) medications you use. They may interact with Truvada drug, especially of: antibiotics, antiviral, cancer medicines, lithium, medicines used to prevent organ transplant rejection, methotrexate, pain or arthritis medicines, other HIV medicines. Truvada does NOT cure HIV or AIDS infection. It does NOT prevent the spread of HIV to others through sex, or sharing used needles, razors, and toothbrushes.
