Vitamin E Information

Vitamin E is used to supplement vitamin E in people with insufficient amounts of the fat-soluble vitamin. Vitamin E deficiency is common in people with gastrointestinal problems, Chron’s disease, and cystic fibrosis. Vitamin E ointment is used as a moisturizer to treat or prevent skin dryness, itchiness, and roughness. Antioxidants like Vitamin E work by scavenging free radicals that can damage cells. It also boosts the immune system and improves blood clotting.

The most common side effects of Vitamin E may include headache, nausea, and tiredness. Call your doctor right away if you have any of the serious side effects, such as:
• Lightheadedness;
• Signs of an allergic reaction, such as rash, breathing difficulties, itching or swelling of the face, tongue, or throat;
• Stomach cramps

Tell your doctor about all your medications, including prescription, OTC, herbal supplements, and vitamins. There may be a drug interaction between Vitamin E and other medications, such as cyclosporine, niacin, warfarin, selumetinib, etc. Do not use Vitamin E if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant without informing your doctor. Use your medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Vitamin E comes in capsule and ointment form. Use Vitamin E capsule with food as directed by your doctor. Take the capsules with a glass of water. Take this drug at regular intervals to get the full benefit. Apply vitamin E ointment to the affected area of the skin. Apply to the skin only. Avoid sensitive areas such as your eyes, inside your mouth/nose, and the vaginal/groin area. To treat dry hands, you may need to use the product every time you wash your hands, applying it throughout the day. Most moisturizers need water to work well. Apply the product after bathing/showering while the skin is still damp. For very dry skin, your doctor may instruct you to soak the area before using the product. Long, hot, or frequent bathing/washing can worsen dry skin. If you are using this product to help treat diaper rash, clean the diaper area well before use and allow the area to dry before applying the product. Store Vitamin E at room temperature, away from moisture and heat. Keep all medicines out of reach of children.
