Voquezna Information
Voquezna (Vonoprazan) treats erosive esophagitis, a condition that damages the esophagus. This condition occurs when stomach acid damages the esophageal lining. Voquezna also relieves heartburn from erosive esophagitis and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) not associated with erosive esophagitis. Heartburn is an irritation of the esophagus that causes burning in the stomach or chest. Voquezna also treats infections caused by Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) when used with antibiotics like clarithromycin or amoxicillin. H.pylori is a bacteria that causes stomach inflammation and pain. Potassium-competitive acid blockers (PCABs) like Vonoprazan work by blocking potassium from binding to proton pumps in the stomach. Proton pumps are responsible for producing stomach acid, and blocking them reduces the acid produced in the stomach.
