Soriatane (Generic name: Acitretin) is a prescription medication used to treat severe psoriasis or other skin disorders in adults. Psoriasis is a skin condition that involves chronically occurring bright red patches covered with silvery scales. Acitretin is a retinoid, which is a form of vitamin A. It works by reducing the speed at which the cells involved in psoriasis are formed. It may take 2 to 3 months before the full benefit of Acitretin is seen. The most common Soriatane side effects are abdominal pain, back pain, dry mouth, hair loss, headache, impotence, loss of appetite, nausea, skin peeling or dry skin, tiredness, and etc. If you are experiencing any severe side effects such as chest pain, dark urine, depression, jaundice, muscle weakness, vision problems, and serious allergic reaction (difficult breathing; itching; rash), please inform your doctor immediately.
Do NOT take Soriatane oral if you are allergic to Acitretin or any of the ingredients in Soriatane medication.
