QVAR Inhaler Information:
Qvar Inhalers (Beclomethasone Dipropionate) are a steroid inhalant medication used to prevent asthma attacks. Qvar is not a rescue medication. If you are having an asthma attack, use the appropriate fast-acting medication. Qvar Inhalers work directly in the lungs to make breathing easier by reducing the irritation and swelling of the airways. It does this by inhibiting the release of inflammatory cells and inflammatory mediators, which decreases the frequency and severity of asthma attacks. This medication must be used regularly to prevent breathing problems (attacks of wheezing/shortness of breath).
QVAR Inhaler Precautions:
To make sure Qvar is safe for you, tell your doctor if you have ever had any type of bacterial, fungal, viral, or parasitic infection, untreated tuberculosis, herpes infections of the eyes, osteoporosis, a weak immune system, cataracts, or glaucoma. Tell your doctor about any other medications you are currently taking in order to reduce the risk of interactions. It is unknown if Qvar will harm an unborn baby. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. You should not breastfeed while using this medication, as it can pass into breast milk. If you experience any serious side effects, severe breathing issues after using Qvar, or signs of an allergic reaction, seek emergency medical attention.
